Happy New Year!!  Welcome back to school!
This month we will introduce the 5 senses, the letters Ii,
Pp, Xx, and Gg.  Please continue to
practice alphabet flash cards with your child.  Helping your child to recognize the letters of the
alphabet is an important first step to future reading and writing skills.  Continue to help your child
practice printing his/her name at home.  Remember to use a capital for the first letter and lower case
for the remaining letters (Ex. Nick).
Let it Snow!  Let it Snow!  Let it Snow!..........  Winter weather is upon us.
Please make sure all outerwear is clearly labeled with your child's name.  Remember…. In case of
inclement weather, we follow the Amherst School cancellations for "snow days."  If there is a 2 hour
delay for Amherst schools, preschool will be cancelled for that day.
***There will be NO SCHOOL on: Monday, January 16 (M.L.K. Day)***
| Pajama Day…..To reinforce the letter Pp, we are asking
the children to wear their Pajamas to school for a fun and silly day on: |

Try this at home:
- Strike up the band.  Get out pots, pans, kazoos, and spoons.  Put on a wide
variety of music and play along as you move according to your and your child's fancy.  Show
your openness to music and dance without any judgment on style or substance.
- Tell tall tales. Change the endings to your child's favorite stories and
poems.  "There was an old lady who lived in a hat," or "Goldilocks and the three chickens."
You'll encourage your child's language development and help her learn how to tell stories in her own way.

St. Peter's United Church of Christ is dedicated to providing...
- the best possible introduction for children to the world of learning.
- a bright, cheerful place where children can come together to develop their
skills, make friends, and learn by having fun with a variety of activities.
-
Our most important component is people:
- teachers, who are friendly and highly skilled in meeting the needs of
preschool children;
- parents, whose active involvement is highly encouraged;
- and, paramount, the children.
- To foster, encourage and instill in children:
- a joy of learning
- the wonder of discovery
- a love for God and his creation
We believe in children -- little ones, big ones, chubby ones, and thin ones.
There is faith in their eyes, love in their touch, hope in their attitude.
Children -- the fragile dream of yesterday, life's radiant reality today, and
the vibrant stuff of tomorrow.
